Steph's 3 Things | Your weekly bites of leadership inspiration, learning & life lessons
Steph's 3 Things #3 - 27 November 2017
Welcome to Steph's 3 Things
Each week I'll bring you three bites of content to help you in your journey to level up your leadership, learning and life.
Leadership Something to watch & do
Recently I ran a leadership program and shared that I like to send hand-written cards to people I work with. A week later, a hand-written card arrived from one of the participants thanking me for the course and how she was going to remind herself to say thank you more often.
This TEDTalk by Mike Robbins gives some interesting stats on the link between feeling appreciated and productivity along with how to create an appreciation practice in your regular life.
How will you recognise the value in your team today?
Learning Something to learn
Fancy learning how to be a better leader, code, create compelling videos or be more productive? Then check out Udemy; you can learn E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. Their huge range of high quality courses are taught by experts in their field (including Seth Godin, ex-WSJ journalists and MBA professors).
*Bonus* - they have a Black Friday sale on until 28 Nov so it's the perfect time to choose your next learning adventure.
(They'd also make a great gift... just don't make it too passive aggressive by buying your manager 'how to be a better manager')
Life Something to ponder
Have we got everything wrong? This thought provoking article challenges our modern obsession with work vs "life" and how we see the former as doing the opposite of what we 'want' to do.
"In fact, things you enjoy are interesting because, at some point, you took the time and energy to make them interesting. If you appropriately gamify your work, you can do the same there."
How can you gamify your work?
