One man's trash and an invitation to troubleshoot your manager challenges in 90 minutes π
One Man's Trash...
"One man's trash is another man's treasure"
This was the excellent metaphor from a client last week during her 90 minute troubleshooting session (details below)Β whilst we were discussing delegation.
Like many of you she often found herself not delegating because she didn't want to feel mean or 'bossy'.
We explored how to flip this mindset to reflect the fact that;
a) it would be 'meaner' to prevent someone else from developing and growing their knowledge because you've been busy doing ALL THE WORK yourself.
b) the tasks you think are 'boring' will likely be interesting or a great learning experience to someone else... hence 'one man's trash is another man's treasure'.
I've heard stories like this all week whilst running the delegation mini-series on LinkedIn.
The challenges resonated with people at all levels of experience - from new managers juggling everything to more senior people who sometimes need a little reminder of these good practices.
In case you missed the series (and have a serious case of FOMO) here are the links to the sessions.
Part 1 - the challenges of delegation
Part 2 - who, what and when of delegation
Part 3 - 4 Cs of delegation suCCCCess
Part 4 - how to delegate based on skill and will
Part 5 - summary and top tips for delegation
All the videos will be up on the website this week for you to easily refer back to next time you're delegating.
Invitation: Troubleshoot Your Challenges
Are you feeling overwhelmed by all the jumbled up pieces of your role as a manager or team leader?
You have to manage your team, the demands of your clients and stakeholders plus actuallyΒ do your own work AND have a life.
Let me help.
Β
Throughout February I'm offering 90-minute 'troubleshooting' sessions, to help you overcome all of the above.
Weβll dig deep into your specific challenges as a manager (including those questions about managing others youβre too shy to ask at work).
Weβll work together to create a practicalΒ action plan that sets you in the right direction with your development and role as a manager.
Iβll share my expertise and knowledge in learning and development, coaching and leadership.
Iβll also use my experience as someone who has been through that same transition, faced the challenges and lived to tell the tale!
For this month only, these practical, 90 minuteΒ sessions are just AUD$150 (PS.Β an hour of coaching is at least $200 so this really is an excellent deal).
Book your session in my calendar here.
Quick Tip: Difficult Conversations?
Next time you need to have a 'difficult conversation' with someone, particularly when it involves providing some constructive feedback, try this...
Instead of telling yourself you are going to have a 'difficult' conversation, tell yourself you are going to have a 'useful' conversation.
- How does that change the language you'll use?
- How does that change how you'll introduce the conversation?
